Daughters of the Holy Cross Reaching Out - by Chris Shields

Last Christmas, the Daughters adopted a young woman who was a sex trafficking survivor. They

provided Christmas for her and her children. This year, the same lady was featured on a WREG Bright Spot segment, featuring Sweet La La’s Bakery.

The bakery gives second chances by employing young people who have made mistakes and by selling products produced by victims of sex trafficking,. One such product (made by Casondra) is Re+New+All Candles, whose mission is to provide meaningful work in a safe and nurturing environment for women survivors.

Each candle is personally signed by the woman who is being restored through its purchase. Casondra’s life has been restored by Jesus, who offers salvation to us all. The Daughters collected and filled 26 purses with cosmetic and hygiene products for Family Promise of Memphis- whose mission is to help people and/or families experiencing homelessness and low-incomes.
