Position Description

The Family Life Minister will lead and develop a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry for children, teenagers, and their families. This role focuses on forming young people in Christ through deep discipleship, biblical teaching, Anglican worship, and intentional partnership with parents. The Family Life Minister will cultivate meaningful relationships, create engaging ministry environments, and expand the reach of the church into the broader community among public, private, and homeschool families. This position requires a spiritually mature, relational, and mission-minded leader who can faithfully teach Scripture, connect with today’s children and youth culture, and equip families to live out the Gospel. The role is full-time including some nights and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

Evangelism & Outreach

·       - Lead a ministry that is intentionally community orientated and Gospel-centered.

·       - Build connections with children, youth, and families beyond the church.

·       - Equip students to share the Gospel with peers and serve the least of these in the community.

·       - Represent the church at diocesan youth and children’s events.

Discipleship & Teaching

·       - Lead weekly gatherings for children and youth rooted in Scripture.

·       - Teach biblically faithful, engaging lessons appropriate for all age groups (elementary through high school).

·       - Form students in Christian doctrine, spiritual disciplines, and Anglican worship.

·       - Equip young people to understand, articulate, and defend their faith.

·       - Address cultural and personal topics with theological clarity and pastoral care.

·       - Oversee Children’s Worship, Sunday School, and Youth programs.

Relational Ministry

·       - Build strong, consistent relationships with children, youth, and families.

·       - Maintain an active presence in students’ lives through school visits, extracurricular events, and community engagement.

·       - Foster a welcoming environment where students feel known, valued, and eager to return.

·       - Model healthy boundaries while remaining approachable and relational.

Family Engagement

·       - Partner with parents as the primary disciplers of their children.

·       - Communicate regularly and professionally with families through newsletters, emails, and personal contact.

·       - Support and collaborate with the broader Family Ministry team.

·       - Hold regular gatherings for Family Ministry volunteers for fellowship, vision casting, and training.

Program Development & Leadership

·       - Oversee all Family Ministry programs, including children and youth events

·       - Develop, recruit, train, and shepherd a growing team of adult volunteers and small-group leaders.

·       - Cultivate student leadership within the ministry.

·       - Maintain a healthy balance of administrative responsibilities and relational presence (approx. 40% office / 60% field).

·       - Ensure all ministry environments adhere to diocesan safeguarding and safety policies.

Administration & Communication

·       - Oversee ministry logistics, scheduling, and planning.

·       - Utilize communication tools and social media to engage families effectively.

·       - Demonstrate strong follow-through, organization, and attention to detail.

·       - Meet regularly with the Rector for coordination and guidance.

·       - Participate in staff and routine ministry meetings

Qualifications

Required:

·       - A clear and active Christian faith.

·       - A love for children, youth, and their families.

·       - Ability to teach Scripture clearly, faithfully, and engagingly.

·       - Alignment with the doctrine, liturgy, and mission of the Anglican Church in North America.

·       -Ordination to the Presbyterate or Diaconate in the Anglican Church in North America, or a willingness to pursue ordination.

·       - Strong relational skills with children, youth, and parents.

·       - Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and organizational ability.

·       - Ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteers.

·       - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

·       - Experience in evangelism and outreach to unchurched students.

·       - Broad biblical foundation related to ministry to children and parents.

Preferred:

·       - Advanced Degree in ministry, theology, education, or related field.

·       - 5+ years of family or youth ministry experience.

·       - Experience in Anglican or liturgical church contexts.

·       - Knowledge of child and adolescent development.

·       - Familiarity with diocesan ministry life and events.

·       - Commitment to 5+ years of service.

Compensation & Benefit

·       Base salary range between 50-60k, dependent upon experience and qualifications, plus benefits.
